My personal message to stupid. "Stupid is what stupid does 'cos stupid is so stupid that stupid doesn't know that stupid is stupid". So. For those who have NEVER taught, guided, developed little people, as in CHILDREN from three months old up to 7 years old, this whole concept is seriously stupid. Grassroots is the beginning of all things. When in doubt return to Grassroots. AI does not have a mind and it seems neither does most so called humans especially those who ahem thrive on AI. Amazing how the ego goes with the fashion. AI is the worst "new" kid on the block. It is already outdated. Ever had the experience of asking a simple question which AI could not give a reply to? I have had that experience. And the question wasn't even challenging, merely information. Note, not knowledge. Information. The stupid bot didn't even know to have the "know how" to apologise. Again. So. Where does stupid's intelligence fit in when already the stupid bots are dated, out .... Did you like this response? I love putting it together for stupid ....

Thanks for sharing your perspective. You're not alone in that sentiment, especially when AI gets marketed as a replacement for human thought or it's used to cut corners with things.

From our side, it’s more nuanced. New tools have always sparked fear and hype. People were worried about the printing press, radio, and the internet too. Which people could argue that the internet itself is destroying the world but it's given us a lot of good things too. People said books would make us dumber, lazy and that printed texts couldnt be trusted, but we kow that's not true. The bigger question is who controls the tool, what incentives are driving it, and how it’s being deployed.

Also, most people are already interacting with “AI systems” every day without realizing it. Even posting a comment touches things like autocorrect and predictive text, spam and bot filtering and more.

We’re not here to worship AI or dismiss the risks, we talk about the risks a lot. It's good to have discussions about how it’s being used, where it harms people, and what practical steps help keep humans in control.

Of course it is, Loraine, just as is any other tool mankind has ever invented.

A hammer can be used to build a house or to kill a robbery victim, just as an automobile can be used to transport you to places you need to go, or just as a scalpel can be used to excise a cancerous tumor or to murder an unborn human being.

The problem never resides with the inanimate object but with the sentient being who decides how it will be used. As always, the watchwords are, "Caveat emptor".
