Greetings! I’m Ramiro Romani, founder and lead contributor of #TakeBackOurTech or #TBOT.

I founded #TBOT in early 2021 after seeing abusive technology being used to surveil and control the communities like the Freedom Cell Network and other freedom groups. Specifically, our websites were delisted from search engines and automated bots began posting across our groups and trying to scam our memberes.

We see technology as a crucial tool that can be used for good (or for evil), and so I went down a path of helping people detoxify their tech, replacing it with friendly transparent open-source technology that respects our right to choose.

This started with teaching people to install Linux on their computers and sharing alternative softwares.

And naturally my attention focused on that device in our pockets, and I published one of the most comprehensive articles to phone privacy on the internet.

After learning about cell service providers in that article and how they treat our communications, it was a no-brainer to replace phone calls & texts with internet based internet communications, decentralized and free to all.

This article went viral and on the front page of Hacker News and really showed me that people want to hear this message.

Today we’re opening a new door to Substack. We chose Substack because they’ve shown they respect the basic human right of Free Speech. This is crucial because we’re going to be covering some controversial topics, and the message can’t get censored or squashed.
