Thank you so much for your care in this Hakeem. I so appreciate your intent. I liked all the stories today but its good to hear that with the new Texas laws in the name of 'safety' to age check folks getting apps that those of us using a freedom device will still have access through FDroid. That's good news. Thanks so much.
Regarding Telegram, I can change all my settings to block people outside my contact list, enable or disable calls. There's a wide range of features I can configure without being a Premium user.
In one of Pavel's latest posts in his Telegram channel, he told us he was back on Dubai.
Tucker does have a Telegram channel and has interviewed Pavel a few times now. The USA and other countries are angry there are no back doors in Telegram. France was the puppet.
You can't prevent random people from messaging you without being a premium user.
Privacy isnt something that should be behind a paywall, especially on a privacy focused app. Telegram is profiting from scammers and victims on their platform. Otherwise they could make it free to block unknown senders.
Yes at the time of the interview when this was recorded, he was not in Dubai - and I explained that visits were difficult.
I have random people message me all the time and I'm not a Premium user. There are scammers across all platforms and Telegram does its best to stop them. We can also block and report scammers. I wouldn't use any other messaging app.
that's exactly what i'm saying. thanks for proving my point.
the ability to block strangers from messaging you shouldn't be a paid feature. people are getting scammed by randoms, and scammers are also using premium features to enhance their scamming effort.
when you prefer a messaging app you can also point out its flaws to try and make it better. there's no need to be defensive.
I'm telling you my experience. I have blocked and reported many of those. Again, I am NOT a Premium user. I have watched Telegram grow and add many features, since using it since 2018. I do not feel defensive, just telling my experience.
yeah unfortunately because i help moderate and participate in hundreds of telegram chats i see people getting scammed regularly by random people messaging them that are pretending to be the admin or owner of another group. making this setting free for everyone would prevent this entirely. there's no reason to put it behind a paywall.
Nice work!!

Doesn't seem you did your homework very well.

I have too had scammers contact me and I block and report them. Again, I can do so without paying for a Premium membership.
